Me: Pray tell, why did you join APO?
Taoran: Because Kate and John Petrie are in APO. I went to South Africa with Toni and Abby, and we had a great time there. They were talking about APO all the time. I thought that if there are awesome people in APO there should be more people in APO.
Me: That is awesome Taoran. I’m so glad to hear that you had a great experience. Now you pledged just last semester. What has your been your favorite part of being in APO?
Taoran: It’s not related to any specific events. I just respect the fact that we focus on service events instead of social things. Just simply talking to APO people, I know more about America, Penn State. In general I learned things and I like that; that’s why I’m very active as a brother.
Me: Sounds like you’re having a great experience in APO. What’s next for you? Are you planning on becoming involved in other ways?
Taoran: Well, I’ve been historian this semester. It’s been a great way to get involved with members and exec. I take pictures, make videos, which is relaxing and fun. Next semester I want to be more involved in more serious events, like service.
Me: What do you hope to be doing ten years from now?
Taoran: In ten years I hope to have graduated from grad school and to be doing work with art therapy. My goal isn’t to make a lot of money but to find joy in combining my passion for art with my desire to serve others. Hopefully I’ll also have the chance to travel and do service work in developing countries.
Me: You da best Taoran!
