Our THON Family
For Alpha Phi Omega, THON is more than a philanthropy: it is an opportunity to change lives. Our life was changed for the better when we were paired with the Connor Rowan family in late 2016.
In December of 2014, Connor Rowan was diagnosed with hepactoblastoma, a rare liver cancer, at three and a half years old. After surgery and four rounds of chemotherapy, Connor was able to defeat cancer. He is now over two years in remission! There is no wonder why Connor is nicknamed “Courageous Connor”.
The brothers love seeing Marrianne and Michael (the parents); AJ, Alex, and Connor (the boys); and Everest (their dog). We get to see them during THON weekend and special THON events throughout the year, such as Family Carnival in December. We often visit the family at the home in York, PA to play with the boys and Everest, and to eat some of Marrianne’s amazing mac and cheese and chili. It is impossible to leave without a smile (and without gaining five pounds).
We are very fortunate to know the Rowans, who love and treat us like their own family. We get to watch three beautiful boys grow up and change more lives. We are thankful towards THON for expanding our hearts and giving us our wonderful family. We THON for the kids and for the Rowans.
