Harvest Hoedown with the Second Mile by Brittany Dudas

One recent service event that took place was the Harvest Hoedown, which is
sponsored by the non-profit organization, the Second Mile. A few other brothers
and I headed to a local church gymnasium, where kids were able to play all sorts of
fun games relating to the fall season. Alpha Phi Omega brothers were in charge of
running the game “Bobbing for Donuts.” This game was especially popular, and it
was hilarious to watch them battle for the win of who could eat the donut fastest.
We also were in charge of the game “Pin the nose on the Jack-o-lantern.” They also
had arts and crafts, music and lots of other fun games. It was a really fun event for
both the kids and the volunteers, because it was a laid-back atmosphere, where the
kids could roam to any game or activity they wanted. We ended the evening with a
pizza picnic in the gym and sipped on juice boxes. The kids had a great time, and I
had a great time with my brothers too.
