The past two summers I have been fortunate enough to be able to work with a number of first-year students as they made the transition from high school into their first year here at Penn State as part of the LEAP program. Nicole and Jordan were sitting in the back of class, during the first week of classes, as I sat in on classes observing. Nicole had expressed that she had been involved in service in high school and was curious about this “co-ed service fraternity” that I said I was part of. The fall semester rolled around and not only did Nicole begin the pledging process but so did Jordan, Sara and Jordan and Nicole’s friend, MaKealy.
Over the past two years, I have kept in touch with some of my leapers, and friends with a few. However, since this summer, I have been beyond lucky for these four to not just be my leapers anymore. They have become my some of the best friends I have, but also now, they are my brothers. I could not be more grateful for this and excited to see how these four LEAP into APO into the future.
