Pumpkin Carving with APO!By: Maria Rossi

The other night I was lucky enough to go to the pumpkin carving service event at Shaver’s Creek Nature Reserve. It was a very festive atmosphere and there were tons of happy people carving different pumpkins and enjoying hot apple cider. The little pavilion was decorated in orange and black and there was a table full of Halloween

goodies and beverages. Rows of tables were filled with people carving

funny, scary, and goofy faces into their jack-o-lanterns. Every once in a while a man asked for volunteers to take wagons full of carved pumpkins around the paths in preparation for their fall festival. The air was chilly and there was a roaring fire built towards the back of the pavilion. We each carved numerous pumpkins; some people carved words, faces, or even celestial objects such as stars.

This was a great hour of service that brought brothers together in a fun atmosphere. I would suggest it to any brother next year!
