Recruitment by Kate Petrie
Although my time as one of the recruitment chairs for the Fall 2013 semester is over, I wanted to reflect on what an awesome experience it was for me. Not only did I work with two wonderful brothers, I also got to meet some pretty amazing recruits along the way.
Through all of our events, I was amazed by the personalities of all our recruits (now pledges)! From info sessions to ice cream socials, they had an undeniable presence! Their ability to join conversations, and play a part in our events truly impressed me. Recruitment is definitely a time where people are nervous for so many understandable reasons. So naturally I was amazed to see that we had found a group of young men and women who were so willing to contribute.
I believe that this is a true testament to our brotherhood’s character. Being a recruitment chair has given me another view of the people in our fraternity. Absolutely everyone who came out to our events made the recruits feel welcome, and part of our family. The recruits' comfort is a powerful sign of our commitment and dedication to friendship.
I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to play a part in APO’s recruiting process. As always, I have come out of the experience feeling overwhelmingly proud to call myself a brother of Alpha Phi Omega!
